Before you book
-
Before your first appointment is booked, you will need to complete the MIM Patient Questionnaire and return that to us. Your PQ will be reviewed, and you will be contacted by MIM staff for triage to suggest which practitioner(s) would seem most appropriate for your needs, and in which order they should be involved.
Certain testing may be advised at that time to ensure you gain full value from your first consultation. We note, however, that pathology testing requested before you have seen one of our doctors cannot attract a Medicare rebate (i.e. will be privately billed by the pathologist)
-
Calls can be recorded, but phone and FaceTime calls cannot be recorded.
Medicare & PBS
-
Mosman Integrative Medicine does not bulk-bill. All consultations are billed at or after the time of the consultation, and a description of the service provided, the practitioner providing the service and the fee charged will appear on all invoices/receipts. If the service fulfils Medicare requirements, a Medicare item number matching the service provided will be included on the invoice/receipt. When you submit this to Medicare, a Medicare rebate should be transferred to you. Medicare rebates cover only a small fraction of the fees doctors charge at Mosman Integrative Medicine, and the “gap” is significant and should always be considered before booking appointments with our practitioners.
All consultations are Medicare rebatable only for the time in direct consultation with the doctor, and only for consultations related to suspected or known medical conditions. Rebates do not cover time in preparation or or after the consultation. Medicare rebates on medical services apply only to medical services applied to the diagnosis and treatment of particular medical conditions. They do not apply to preventive services or treatment. Medicare rebates for telehealth consultations (video or telephone) are complex in requirements, but in principle can only apply if the doctor and patient have been in a face-to-face consultation within the previous 12 months. Each 12 months, another face-to-face consultation is required to reset the telehealth rebate allowance.
Video consultations currently attract a considerably higher Medicare rebate compared to telephone consultations, particularly for consultations longer than 20 minutes. If a video consultation is commenced and subsequently fails for technical reasons, the consultation will be rebated at the higher video telehealth fee.
All consultations, pathology, radiology or other work related to prevention, health promotion or longevity cannot ever attract Medicare rebates.
-
Pharmaceutical benefits scheme (PBS) subsidy of prescribed medications is provided by Government for some prescribed products. They are generally not available for medications supplied by Compounding Pharmacists, or when some particular medications are prescribed for off-label use. Out-of-pocket costs for such medications can be significant and should be discussed with the prescribing practitioner.
Conflict of Interest Declaration
Mosman Integrative Medicine does not sell products prescribed by Dr Donohoe.
-
The primary business of Mosman Integrative Medicine is the provision of healthcare services which are billed at either an hourly rate, or as an agreed fee for a particular service.
Fees billed by doctors for Medicare-rebatable services do not attract GST, nor do medications prescribed by doctors in the course of treatment. Fees and sales billed by other healthcare practitioners may attract GST.
The medical practitioners in MIM do not sell medications they prescribe, apart from the TCM herbal treatments provided by Dr Isobel Marr. Other practitioners may offer products or services for sale, and will inform you of those costs at the time of the consultation.
Our fees
What is covered and what is not
Pathology, radiology and any other diagnostic or treatment fees are NOT included in the prices quoted below, and will be billed privately or bulk-billed by the provider of the products or services.
All pre-reading of documents, results of tests, and the paperwork or calls required following the consultation will be billed separately and do not attract Medicare rebates.
Typical additional time for pre-read and post-consultation notes and paperwork is approximately 10 to 15 minutes per hour of face-to-face consultation, billed at the practitioner’s usual hourly rate, rounded to the nearest 5 minutes. For example, a 90 minute face-to-face consultation will usually require an additional 15 to 25 minutes of billed time for the pre-read and paperwork.
All work requested by our clients and patients will attract a fee for the service timed to the nearest 5 minutes at the practitioner’s hourly rate. This includes requests for prescriptions, certificates, specialist and allied health referrals, medical reports or requests for diagnostic tests.

patient questionnaire
Enrolling with us.
When you contact us for your first consultation, whether by phone or contact form, you will be asked to complete a New Patient Questionnaire (PQ).
We ask you to fill it in using Acrobat, Preview or any PDF reader that allows for text entry into the fields on the form. The “submit” button on the last page only reliably works with Acrobat, but you can save the document and email it to our Reception (instructions on the form).
If all this fails, handwrite your responses, scan the completed document and email it to Reception (pm@mimpractice.com).
Once we receive your completed PQ, you are in the queue. Dr Donohoe will review the PQ to decide on the consultation time required.
We will then contact you to book the consultation. At that time, we will ask you to forward any relevant test results, specialist letters, x-ray reports by email (scanned) or by mail (we will scan and return the original documents to you on your consultation date)
FAQs
Can I have my appointment online?
Yes, we offer consultations via video and phone.
We currently offer the following video platforms; FaceTime, Skype and Zoom. Please note that eligibility for a Medicare rebate is determined by your in-person attendance at the practice once in a 12 month period. If you live interstate or in a rural area you may not be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
What to expect on your first consultation?
Once your appointment has been scheduled and confirmed you are welcome to email any supporting documentation that will help our doctors prepare for your first consultation. This might include recent pathology results, reviews or reports. Please note Dr Mark charges a small fee for pre-reading of notes so we suggest sending only the information you think is relevant to your current health concern.
We understand that your health journey is unique and your first visit will be longer than your standard medical consultation. Many of our patients have waited a considerable time before they see Dr Mark and it can be both physically and emotionally taxing to discuss your personal health journey with a new practitioner. We highly recommend that on the day of your first consultation that you be gentle with yourself and don’t schedule too many other activities. You will receive comprehensive notes from Dr Mark for you to refer to over the coming days. Take your time to digest and reflect on any new ideas, information and recommendations. And, please feel free to contact our friendly reception staff if you have any questions.
How long will my first appointment with Dr Mark be?
Depending on the complexity of your health condition we estimate your first consultation will be around 2 hours in total. This includes 90 minutes for your consultation and 30 minutes for pre-reading and paperwork at the conclusion of your consultation. Occasionally consultations run longer or shorter. We can give you a better idea once we have received your completed new patient questionnaire.
Is there parking near the practice?
There is plenty of unrestricted parking in the adjoining parking bays. There are 3 one hour parking spaces directly in front of our practice. Please note there is wheelchair access on the opposite side to the front entrance to the practice.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
Prior to your appointment, please review our Appointment Confirmation & Cancellation Policies. Appointments that are not confirmed within the confirmation period shall be canceled and fees applied. Please feel free to call our Reception staff should you have any queries or concerns.
